Current Status and Perspectives of the European Gas Balance

The in-depth analysis of the European natural gas market outlines potential gas demand scenarios until 2050. Taking into account updated production forecasts, the gas balance concludes that import demand from sources outside the EU are expected to increase, mainly due to declining domestic production and the growing importance of natural gas for power generation. According to the study, Russia and LNG imports are best suited to meet the European demand.
