Searching for the optimal route
When defining the optimal route for the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline, it is essential to have an accurate picture of the seabed to ensure safe installation and operation, with minimum environmental impacts. By the end of July 2017, the more than 20 survey vessels (ranging from Kayaks to the more than 80 meters long Stril Explorer) have conducted underwater surveys along more than 50,000 line kilometres. These surveys will contribute to the safety and environmental sustainability of the pipeline’s route.
