Nord Stream 2 is committed to doing business responsibly. Just one of many ways that we fulfil this goal is by contributing to the ecological enhancement and social development of the regions where we operate and beyond.
We take our social responsibility seriously and fulfill this integral part of our company culture through initiatives that connect people across borders. With each commitment we aim to make a sustainable contribution through steady support and mutual trust, with a special focus on promoting young talent.
Nord Stream 2 has launched a number of environmental compensation measures, such as multiple releases of young salmon into rivers in the Baltic Sea region. The initiative is part of the complex Environmental and Community Initiatives Strategy (ECo-I), which aims to achieve a net gain for the project area in Russia.
Another environmental initiative includes the study of seal behaviour in the Gulf of Finland, helping scientists find better ways to preserve the population. The protection of biodiversity and support of scientific research is just one part of a wider strategy to promote health, safety and security in the region.
Supporting cross-cultural exchange and young talent are at the core of our sponsorship values, which is why Nord Stream 2 chose to become the main sponsor of the unique Baltic Sea Philharmonic. The ensemble has gained a reputation for innovative and exciting performances that highlight its focus on international cooperation and the development of young musicians.
The pipeline passes through the waters of five Baltic Sea nations, such as Finland (shown here), where we support the protection of the Baltic Sea and marine culture work, in addition to the documentation of maritime history. Nord Stream 2 supports variety of community initiatives along the route that aim to make a meaningful contribution to the future in these places.
When it comes to sponsoring sports, Nord Stream 2 looks for the same kind of special team spirit that it cultivates among its own talented employees. The clubs and events we support, such as the European Handball Federation’s Champions League tournament, are all successful, passionate components of their communities.
