Nord Stream 2 AG Official Business Partner of This Year’s SPIEF
- High-profile example of industrial collaboration between Russian and European businesses
June 1, 2017 | Zug | Nord Stream 2 AG is proud to be an official business partner of this year's St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and on 2 June 2017 will host a Breakfast Briefing on the theme of "Energy for Europe: A Reliable Relationship".
Nord Stream 2 is the project developer responsible for planning, constructing and operating one of the world's biggest infrastructure projects, the €8 billion gas pipeline that from late-2019 will transport Russian gas 1,200 kilometres through the Baltic Sea to Germany's Baltic Coast, where it will be connected to the EU gas market.
The project is a high-profile example of industrial collaboration between Russian and European businesses: a Swiss company 100% owned by Gazprom, Nord Stream 2 AG also benefits from the involvement of five major European energy groups as financial investors – ENGIE, OMV, Shell, Uniper and Wintershall, all of whom are also participating in this year's SPIEF. Nord Stream 2 also brings together many Russian, European and international businesses working on different parts of this complex mega-project.
Nord Stream 2 is strategically important for both Russia, with the world's largest gas reserves, and the European energy industry, which provides the world's largest single market for gas. It will enhance the EU's security of supply of natural gas, strengthen the competitiveness of the gas market and support EU climate goals. The project is progressing on schedule with the support of its international investors.
The Nord Stream 2 Breakfast Briefing will be held on 2 June 2017 in the Restaurant for Participants, Business Breakfast Area, from 08:30 a.m.
