Construction progress at the Russian landfall
An aerial shot shows ongoing construction at the Russian landfall at Narva Bay, in the Kingisepp district of the Leningrad region. The buildings with green roofs belong to workers’ accommodations. To the left are the pipeline’s onshore facilities, located 3.7 kilometres from the Baltic Sea shore. These facilities include the PIG launchers used for the internal inspection of the pipeline, the emergency shutdown system, and anchor blocks, which are designed to compensate for the force arising within the offshore section of the gas pipeline as a result of temperature changes during operation.
