Concrete weight coating of Nord Stream 2 pipes in Kotka, Finland
Almost half of the 200,000 steel pipes needed for the Nord Stream 2 project will be concrete weight coated at Wasco’s facilities in Kotka. The coating process doubles the weight of the pipes to 24 tons on average, ensuring the stability of the pipeline once it is laid on the seabed. Furthermore, the additional layer provides protection from external damage during the interim storage, transport and during the pipelay process.
