In a next step, the pipes receive protective end caps to avoid external damage during storage. Like the wire cages, every cap has a unique identification number to match its pipe. Almost half of the 200,000 pipes required for the Nord Stream 2 project will be concrete weight coated at Wasco’s coating plants in Kotka, Finland.
