Ball valve actuator for gas flow interruption
Italian manufacturer PetrolValves produces the Large Top Entry Ball Valves (TEBV) for installation at the German and Russian landfalls. They feature hydro-electric or electric actuators, the latter of which is shown here. This valve with an electric actuator is used to safely launch pipeline inspection gauges (PIGs). At other landfall locations there are structurally identical valves outfitted with hydro-electric actuators, which can close the valve in less than 60 seconds to interrupt gas flow for scheduled maintenance or in the unlikely event of an emergency shutdown.
