June 29, 2016 | BP’s released annual Statistical Review of World Energy contains some clear-cut facts and figures: In 2015, the EU’s domestic gas production dropped by 8 percent last, with Dutch production down by more than 20 percent – the world’s largest decline. Simultaneously, the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts that European gas consumption will increase by 10 billion cubic meters over the next five years, in its latest Medium-Term Gas Market report.
