Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive Officer at Nord Stream 2 AG, Matthias Warnig oversees every aspect of the company’s operations.
Until September 2015 Mr Warnig headed the first Nord Stream Pipeline Project as the Managing Director of Nord Stream AG, a role he took on in 2006.
From 1990 until 2006 Mr Warnig held several positions at the Dresdner Bank AG and was, among other duties, in charge of establishing the French-German “BNP-Dresdner Bank”, which was the first foreign-capital bank in Russia.
Previously, Mr Warnig had several functions in the German Democratic Republic’s government from 1981 to 1990, including roles in the foreign trade ministry and the Cabinet.
Mr Warnig is a graduate of the Bruno Leuschner Higher School of Economics (Berlin-Karlshorst) majoring in "National Economy".
Mr Warnig is a member of the Board of Directors of Transneft, member of VTB Bank Supervisory Board, Deputy Chairman of Rosneft Board of Directors, as well as a Member of the Administrative Councils of GAZPROM Schweiz AG (Switzerland) and of Gas Project Development Central Asia AG.
In 2012 Mr Warnig was awarded the Order of Honour of the Russian Federation.
He speaks German (native), English and Russian.
Chief Financial Officer
As Nord Stream 2 AG’s Chief Financial Officer, Paul Corcoran manages the company’s financial data and planning.
He took on the role in January 2016 after serving as Finance Director for the existing Nord Stream AG project from its inception in 2006.
After beginning his career in civil engineering, Mr Corcoran changed to finance and worked for 5 years with STC Telecommunications. In 1998, he went on to begin a series of roles within the BASF Group, including that of Finance Director for both BASF Antwerpen NV and Wintershall AG, the company’s German oil and gas subsidiary.
He holds a degree in civil engineering from Liverpool University and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
He speaks English (native), Dutch and German.
Chief Project Officer
As Chief Project Officer, Marco Casirati leads the Nord Stream 2 project teams and is responsible for managing the current construction phase to completion, which includes the handover to operations. He came to this position in 2020 after serving five years as a Deputy Chief Project Officer for Nord Stream 2.
In 1995, Mr. Casirati began working for the Italian Offshore Construction Company SAIPEM in various positions. Before coming on board at Nord Stream 2, he joined the Nord Stream project in 2008 as a Project Manager for the Russian Landfall, Pre-Commissioning and Gas-In. Mr. Casirati has a track record of more than 20 years in project management in the oil and gas industry, including projects like Blue Stream, Green Stream and Dolphin Energy.
He holds a PhD in Aeronautical (Structural) Engineering. He speaks Italian (native) and English.
Chief Commercial Officer
As Chief Commercial Officer for Nord Stream 2 AG, Reinhard Ontyd is responsible for the company’s commercial activities, involving procurement, permitting and legal affairs.
Mr Ontyd served in a similar post for the existing Nord Stream Pipeline project as Compliance Officer. He has been working in the energy industry for his entire professional career, having first started at Ruhrgas AG, Germany. Before joining the Nord Stream Pipeline project, he worked for Germany`s E.ON group, where he held various senior positions in the area of law, management of long-term gas supply contracts and project management over the last 20 years.
Mr Ontyd holds a degree in law.
He speaks German (native) and English.
Chief Technical Officer
As Chief Technical Officer, Pavel Persidskii oversees the company’s technical policy.
He assumed the position in September 2019 after serving as Deputy Chief Technical Officer for Nord Stream 2.
Mr Persidskii began his career in 2001, performing various engineering functions for Giprospetsgaz JSC, the main design company of PAO Gazprom. Prior to joining Nord Stream 2, he was Chief Technical Officer for South Stream Serbia and previously worked as Chief Project Engineer on a number of PAO Gazprom projects.
He holds a degree in economics and civil engineering from Volgograd State Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
He speaks Russian (native) and English.
